Croatian publishers to participate in the Frankfurt Bookfair 2023.

Croatian publishers will once again participate at the world’s largest book fair, Frankfurt Buchmesse (18-22 October 2023), thanks to the organisational efforts by the Croatian association of publishers and booksellers, and the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and Media. At the Croatian national stand in Hall 4 around forty publishers will present their most recent fiction, non-fiction and children’s titles, as well as poetry, graphic novels and works of selected local illustrators.

The Croatian author Martina Vidaić has been awarded the overall winner of The European Union Prize for Literature (EUPL) 2023 for her novel Bedbugs. The novel was published in Croatia in 2021 by Naklada Ljevak.

The Bavarian Prize for publishing project goes to Tatjana Gromača's German publisher Stroux

German publisher Stroux was awarded the Verlagsprämien des Freistaats Bayern 2022 for the German translation of Tatjana Gromača's novel Die Goettlichen Kindchen, translated from Croatian to German by Will Firth.

Internationally acclaimed author, essayist and translator Dubravka Ugrešić passed away

Internationally acclaimed author, essayist and translator Dubravka Ugrešić passed away on March 17th 2023, in Amsterdam, at the age 73. Ugrešić received numerous international literary awards for her works, her name was also mentioned as a candidate for the Nobel Prize in Literature. Her books have been translated into more than 20 languages.
