Authors

Nenad Stipanić (Senj, 1973) is an awarded Croatian writer, artist, and screenwriter, with an interest in experimental, unusual, and weird fiction. He published two short story collections Sprinteri u labirintu (Sprinters in labyrinth, 2005) and Odlično je baviti se kriminalom (It Is Great Being A Criminal, 2008), and his work is featured in several selections of best Croatian stories by prominent literary critics. Afterward, he focused on novels, opening the new writing phase with Izbacivači Majke Božje (Holy Mary's Bouncers, 2012).

His novel Stvarno je odlično baviti se kriminalom (It's Really So Good Being A Criminal, 2015), was based on his similarly named story collection and awarded with Balkan Noir Prize for the best Croatian crime novel 2015. Bogovi neona (Gods of Neon, 2019), an experimental fiction, was shortlisted for the European Union Prize for Literature.

Stipanić is also co-creator and screenwriter of crime TV series Mamutica, praised for its atmosphere and themes, and one of the founders of Kitchen Art Collective (K.U.K.), a project aimed at bringing the art closer to the community through happenings, performances, exhibitions, and readings. He participated in Siniša Labrović's conceptual art projects Postgraduate Education (2009, Zagreb), Boxing Match for The Title of Minister of Culture of The Croatian Republic (2010, Zagreb), and Interview (2016, Pula, Belgrade, 2017, London).
