Ivo Balenović
Ivo Balenović (Zagreb, 1969) graduated in medicine. He published his novels Metastases and Cannibal Vegetarian under the pseudonym Alen Bović. These novels were made into successful feature films; while Metastases won the Grand Golden Arena for the best film at the Pula Film Festival in 2009, Cannibal Vegetarian was selected as the Croatian entry for the Best Foreign Language Oscar at the 85th Academy Awards. The novel Metastases also received a homonymous theatrical adaptation that won the Marul Award for the best play in 2008.
Balenović wrote screenplays for the feature films ZG80 (2016) and Agape (2017) and for the animated movie Easygoing Teddy. Ivo Balenović lives in Zagreb and works as a medical doctor, writer and screenwriter.
