Rade Šerbedžija

Rade Šerbedžija (Korenica, 1946) is an actor, poet and musician. Shortly after graduating from the Academy of Dramatic Art at the University of Zagreb, he started working as an actor in the Gavella theatre. During his long and successful career, he remarkably impersonated some of the greatest characters in the history of literature: Peer Gynt, Hamlet, Don Juan, Oedipus, King Lear and Richard III. Behind Šerbedžija are numerous memorable film and television roles. For his achievements, he received numerous Croatian and international awards.

He’s the founder of the Brijuni-based Ulysses theatre, as well as the Acting and Media studies on the University of Rijeka. His literary work includes several poetry collections and two autobiographical titles (Breathless from 2018 and After Rain from 2017).
