Goran Ferčec

Freelance writer, dramaturg and theatre maker based in Zagreb. Born in Koprivnica, Croatia in 1978. Graduated Dramaturgy at the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb. Member of the editorial board of the Performing Arts Journal Frakcija, Zagreb. Co-founder of the DK - dramaturgy collective initiative. The DK organizes public stage readings of drama texts by young Croatian authors. Since 2005 publishes performance texts and theory in journals: Frakcija, Zagreb; TkH-Walking Theory, Belgrade; Kretanja, Zagreb; and on the Third program of Croatian radio. Author of the novel There Will Be No Miracles Here, published by Fraktura, Zagreb, 2011.

Awards and grants:

- Croatian annual theater award for adaptation and dramaturgy of novel Amerika by Franz Kafka
- Borštnik Award for the dramaturgy of the production of Modern Nô Plays performed by Slovene Permanent Theatre in Trieste

- Annual Award from the Croatian Ministry of Culture for the one of ten best novels in year 2011
- Veljko Maričić Award for best dramaturgy for the performances Generation 91-95 and Cyclops, at the 18th International Small Scenes Theatre Festival in Rijeka

- Artist-in-residence grant for writers Milo Dor which included a two month stay in Vienna organized by Kultur Kontakt

- Award from the Austrian Cultural Forum for the year 2007 for the performance text Letter to Heiner M. within the international project/contest Über Grenzen sprechen
- Rector’s Award from the University of Zagreb in the academic year 2007/2008
