Ivana Šojat-Kuči, born in 1971 in Osijek, Croatia, where she, after a long stay in Belgium, lives again today. In 2000, she published her first book of poems Hiperbole, in 2003 followed by the book of poems Uznesenja and in 2005 Utvare. In 2006, she has released collection of short stories Kao pas and essays Past će sve maske. In 2009 appeared with her highly regarded novel Unterstadt, which deals with the fate and life paths of the Germans in Osijek in the 20th century. Based on the novel Unterstadt theater play was set in the Croatian National Theatre in Osijek. Besides Unterstadt (2002) she has published three more novels Šamsiel (2002), Ničiji sinovi (2012) and Jom Kipur (2014). As a literary translator Ivana Šojat-Kuči has translated numerous books from English and French into Croatian.
